Saladin falls into Gabriel's trap and sustains mortal wounds from Gabriel and Gregor. Sultan Nureddin quashes the threat of state division by eliminating his rebellious brother, Nusreddin. Believing there are no obstacles to his march on Ascalan, Sultan Nureddin postpones the conquest upon learning of Saladin's demise. Upon arriving at Saladin's headquarters, he is shocked to find Saladin dead, plunging both him and the Ayyubid family into profound grief. While Damascus mourns its hero, the Crusaders celebrate victory. Sultan Nureddin vows to avenge Saladin's death by conquering Ascalan. However, Eyyub's unexpected arrival sows doubt in their minds, raising the possibility that Saladin may still be alive and mobilizing everyone.
