These forbidden sites are often ground zero for chaos and the destruction of ancient artifacts and irreplaceable records detailing mankind's origins and history. In Iraq and Syria, thousands of ancient artifacts and relics have been deliberately destroyed. Museums and excavation sites across Egypt have been looted multiple times.
